best blogging advice ever

from @penelopetrunk:

"People ask me all the time how they can get more readers to their blog. The answer is that you have to be learning on your blog. If you're not learning, no one else is learning. You can't fake it. It's safe to talk about what you know, but it's not that interesting; no one likes a know-it-all. My favorite posts are the one's when I was doing something scary, but doing it with grace. In fact, I actually think those are my favorite times of life."

Sunday morning feels decadent

I so desperately need to work on my online presence. This has been my constant mode of thinking since my first website in 1997. If I had one wish, it would be to have an archive of every website I’ve ever made for myself.

I feel an incredible panic when thinking about the disconnect between what I want my lifestream to be and what it currently is. The only way I can calm myself down about it when not actively working on it is by making lists.

So. Here we are again.
Move root lifestream to wordpress. Import each goalstream/topic posterous into a different category. Import TPP, Twitter, google reader, pandora, LJ, wiki, etc into different categories & suppress Twitter from main page to avoid redundancy with Posterous posts. Organize & present category nav with distinction between goalstream & experience streams. Perhaps experience streams & goalstreams each go into a main category so they can have subcategories. What to do with runkeeper & twye? They stay in the health category- perhaps they get supressed from the main page. I think I need to make some IA sitemaps/workflows/wireframes. On top of all this is the ‘lifestream tool’ page that tells you how to do each type of lifestream.

Then the podcast! Post eps, make a premium subscriber group lifestream category from posterous & suppress from main page, & make a memberwing protected directory for premium videos before they go through the editing process (so premium subscribers can see recordings immediately-usually it takes a few days to edit & post to the site). ALSO NEED TO WORK ON SQUEEZE PAGE!

Another realization: Nearly every bad decision I’ve ever made has been caused by alcohol. Admitting that I should probably quit makes me an alcoholic. This is irritating. What do I need now, a sobriety goalstream?can lifestreaming suck any more fun out of my life?

Note to insurance companies: this post is a work of fiction.

Omg now we need to start posting recipes… I’m posting in d&d again… The tortie community, here… So many paths to get lost in.
