We want to be self-employed, but have a hard time sticking to a schedule without a boss. Let’s help each other out. Can we have meetings with each other to stay accountable and wake up on time? I suggest we meet up in Second Life at a predetermined time in the early morning. Working out time zones might be annoying but we can figure it out!

We could come to each meeting with a notecard answering the following questions (we use these at my Second Life job to keep meetings going quickly, I think they are very useful. All credit to Dr. Leslie Jarmon!):

1. On your own Task list, type what’s been done or what progress have I made on it so far?
2. What are my specific Next Actions? LIST these.
3. What is my plan to accomplish them?
4. What do I need to finish these tasks?

So lifestreamers, lifefuckers, entrepreneurs and shamans, what do you say?

Edit: we are meeting Monday, April 12 2010 at 8am CST here.

YES. i think a morning meeting would be a GREAT motivator! i haven’t messed around with second life before, so i know nothing about it, but i’m sure it’ll be easy breezy.

starting my own business means i should be designating at least 8 hours a day to my work. AT LEAST. honestly, i’m lucky to designate five or six…on a GOOD day. waking up at 11am doesn’t help me out there/ i think if we could meet in the morning, discus our goals and plans for the day, and help motivate each other, it would be great. (: i’m in.

AWESOME! i really like second life for meetings because you feel like you’re actually there with a person… if you have a mic we can use voice too. i’m also down for video chat but that gets complicated with more than a couple people.

so why don’t we try second life this monday? are you EST? We could do 9a your time, 8a our time.

so for second life, you go to the site & sign up, then download the software. log in and you’ll be on help island. you have to get off help island before you can do anything useful, so wander around and look for anything that offers to teleport you somewhere. there will be billboards advertising a bunch of random places. just teleport to any one of them and then you can do as you please/go anywhere.

if i’m around i can log in and help! it can be intimidating to get use to the avatar controls at first, but for basic meetings there’s not a ton to learn.

let me know if monday at 9am EST works for you! this could be super fun!
